Overview
SVNIT was established in June 1961 as the Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering and Technology, a joint venture of the Government of India and Government of Gujarat. It was granted Deemed University status in 2002 and became a National Institute of Technology thereafter. The campus spans roughly 250 hectares between Surat's domestic airport and railway station.
