NIT Andhra Pradesh was established in 2015 as part of the government's initiative to have at least one NIT in every state, and now operates from its permanent campus near Tadepalligudem. As one of the newer NITs, it offers a compact set of core and emerging engineering B.Tech branches, admitting students exclusively through JEE Main/JoSAA.
