IIT Tirupati was established in 2015 as part of the second wave of new IITs under the Ministry of Education. Its permanent campus spans roughly 530 acres in Yerpedu village, about 30 km from Tirupati city. The institute was mentored in its early years by IIT Madras and has grown its research and placement footprint steadily.
