Overview
Established in 1951, IIT Kharagpur is the first of the IITs, founded on the site of the former Hijli Detention Camp. It has the largest campus among the IITs (over 2,100 acres) and offers the widest range of undergraduate branches of any IIT, including agricultural, mining, and ocean engineering.
